Barcelona make approach to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United
Reports from Spain suggest that Barcelona has initiated talks to secure the signature of Manchester United’s forward, Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood, who has been on loan at Getafe this season, faced exclusion from United’s first team last summer after his involvement in a legal case. Despite being cleared of all charges last February, United hesitated to reintegrate him into Erik ten Hag’s squad due to significant backlash from supporters.
During his loan tenure at Getafe, the 22-year-old has flourished, catching the eye of Barcelona, who are exploring options for the upcoming transfer window.
Sport reports indicate that Barcelona has made initial inquiries to gather more information about Greenwood’s situation but has not yet entered formal negotiations with United.
With Greenwood’s contract set to expire next summer, Barcelona perceives him as a cost-effective option. However, United’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has not dismissed the possibility of Greenwood’s return, stating that a fresh decision regarding the forward’s future will be made at Old Trafford.
