Mohamed Salah has agreed to leave Liverpool and join Saudi Pro League, claims Mido

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to join the Saudi Pro League this upcoming summer, as revealed by former Premier League striker Mido. The news comes after Salah attracted significant interest from Saudi side Al-Ittihad last year, with reports suggesting a lucrative contract offer of over £150 million spanning two seasons.

Despite the tempting offer, Salah chose to extend his stay at Liverpool for another season, aiming to secure more trophies under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership in what is speculated to be the manager’s final campaign at Anfield. Salah recently contributed to Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph, further cementing his pivotal role in the team.

Former Egypt international Mido has now disclosed that Salah’s tenure at Liverpool will conclude this season, with the 31-year-old reportedly finalizing a deal to transition to Saudi Arabia. Mido shared the news on X, stating, “Mohamed Salah will be in the Saudi League next season. Contracts have been signed.”

The Saudi Pro League has witnessed substantial investment in player acquisitions, exceeding £700 million over the past year alone. Saad Al Lazeez, the league’s vice-chair, emphasized the long-term vision behind these financial ventures, affirming that the aim extends beyond immediate success. “This is a long-term investment. We are not in it for a season,” stated Al Lazeez at the Financial Times’ Business of Football Summit, expressing satisfaction with the progress made and hinting at further developments in the league’s growth trajectory.
